The 8800 can be thought of as a more advanced version of the 2500 (and thus the ETA 2892) whereas the 8900 is physically much bigger what with its twin mainsprings in series. It was developed from the 8500 which was a true full in house design with no predecessor AFAIK. Mar 8, 2017. I got this watch 2 weeks ago and it keeps time amazingly well. Only +0,5s/week.
